Why a Goal Without a Scheduled Time Doesn't Happen
Anything without a day and a time attached is optional by default, and optional things lose to whatever's urgent that day. A task on the calendar has to be actively skipped; a task that's just "on the list" never even competes.
- Unscheduled tasks silently lose to urgent ones every time
- A specific day and time turns a wish into a commitment
- Recurring slots (same day, same time) build the habit faster
- Vague timing ("sometime this week") rarely survives a busy week
- Rescheduling a missed task is easier than reviving an abandoned one
